Upcoming Bollywood Movies
The year 1913 saw the mark of a new dawn in the entertainment industry in India, when the first silent feature film, Raja Harishchandra, produced and directed by the renowned Dadasaheb Phalke hit the theaters across India. Only fate knew what Dadasaheb Phalke started would yield far better upcoming movies in near future. This dawn came to be known as the Indian cinema or Bollywood, with Mumbai being the hotspot for all the Bollywood activities.
In this post, we will throw spotlight upon some of the most awaited and upcoming Bollywood movies this year. But before that, it is crucial for us to tell you the story of Indian Cinema, of Bollywood.
Today, Bollywood has become one of the largest entertainment industry in the world, with over 800 movies in different regional languages being released every year. This figure is more than the movies released as part of any other film industry in the world.
Dadasaheb Phalke performed the screenplay in the first movie of Indian cinema. With the lack of appropriate technology and resources during that time, the film was shot on a single fixed camera, and that too without any retakes! As the sands of time passed, acting and films became a passion for some people than just being a source of entertainment.

Bollywood: A Never-Ending Journey
The advent of films led to the active involvement of actors and actresses in the Bollywood, gradually leading to production and release of more and more films. Due to this growth in the industry, both Bollywood, as well as India, got some of its best actors and superstars. Actors like Rajesh Khanna, Amitabh Bachchan, and Shah Rukh Khan are some of the most talented faces the industry has seen.
While some people dreamt of becoming actors and actresses, Bollywood also opened doors to many other industries in the entertainment segment, such as music studios, production houses, acting schools, and universities, etc. And these industries are not less than the backbone of Indian film industry today.
Even these industries have given us some of the best artists of all time, like Mohammad Rafi, Lata Mangeshkar, Asha Bhosle as playback singers, Lakshmikant-Pyarelal as a music composer duo, Zakir Hussain, Jagjit Singh, Bismillah Khan as instrumentalists, and many more.
The love and support shown by us have made Bollywood into one of the largest film industries in the world. The level of acting Indian actors have shown so far on screen, they have become idols for many people. Some of the actors have even been featured in Hollywood films.
Quoting the dialogue from the movie Fan (2015) – “Wo sirf star nahi, duniya hai meri”, you will find a lot of people who strictly follow their favorite film stars, and consider them as an inseparable part of their lives. They walk, talk, dress and behave like their favorite actors. For such people, films and Bollywood is not a source of entertainment, it is an emotion for them.
While there are many who behave like their favorite actors, there have been some who even dared to become an actor themselves in the Indian film industry. Out of these people, some are the spouses of successful actors and actresses, while some came from independent social backgrounds with no links with Bollywood actors. They were the ones who set their feet in the Indian film industry on their own dare and confidence.
Mumbai – The Paradise of Bollywood
When you go through all the happenings mentioned above, you will find one thing in common. That thing is Mumbai, the heart of Bollywood. Mumbai is one of the most populous cities in India, and one of the main reason behind this is the large masses of people who come from different cities with a dream to become a successful actor. Most of them fail, and very few of them succeed. Those who succeed have given Indian cinema some of the best movies even at the international level.
International & National Fame
Movies of actors like Aamir Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, Amitabh Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai and many more have been released in theatres abroad as well, and have become one of the top-grossing movies of the time. Out of these movies, many have even been nominated and awarded with prestigious awards of the film industry like the Oscars, Golden Globe, Grammy awards etc. at the international platform, and Dadasaheb Phalke award etc. at the national level.
Talking about recently released films which became a mammoth success at the Box Office, the first one on the list is Baahubali: The Conclusion (2017). This movie grossed more than INR 10 Billion across worldwide, with more than INR 5 Billion being grossed at the national level across different languages. The movie was even conferred the Best Action Direction (for Telugu version), Best Popular Film (for Telugu version) and the Best Special Effects (for Telugu version) award among other nomination categories during the National Awards ceremony held the previous month.
This is just an example of the acting skills present in Indian Cinema in the 21st Century, and there are a lot of films which have taken the name of Indian Cinema to completely new level across the globe. More such movies are yet to come in future.
The sad part about Bollywood is that the actors, directors, musicians and other artists keep changing with the passage of time. But this is also good in regard to bringing new talent in front of the world, and to let people know the capability of Bollywood to produce masterpiece films in the world. Although there will never be a conclusion to the Bollywood and the Indian Film Industry, it is time to conclude this post. Share in the comments if we missed any movies.
