How to check Aadhaar Card Status Online and Offline

Aadhaar Card is an identity card with a 12-digit unique number offered to each citizen of India. This unique number stores your biometric information. The Indian government is planning to link Aadhaar Card with many future schemes and accounts to increase the reach of this program. So far, more than a billion Indian citizens have already been enrolled in this program. Most people have already received their Aadhaar Cards and those, who haven’t yet, can now check their Aadhaar status online or offline.

Once you have applied for the Aadhar Card, It may take up to a few weeks for the UIDAI (Unique Identification Authority of India) to finish the process and send you the card by post. Meanwhile, you can track the current status of your Aadhaar application by using the Enrollment ID available in your acknowledgement slip. In this article, we will explain the step-by- step process to check Aadhaar Status online and offline.

How to Check Aadhaar Card Status Online (Using UID)

Indian citizens can now also check their Aadhaar status online on UIDAI website. To track your www.uidai.gov.in card status, you will need to use the unique enrollment ID. Follow the steps below to check your Aadhaar status online.

Step 1: Visit UIDAI website uidai.gov.in and Click on the second option “Check Aadhaar Status” under Aadhaar Enrollment category.

Step 2: This will redirect you to a new page. Read the information provided on the page. Now, enter your Enrollment ID and the exact Date and Time as given on the acknowledgement slip.

Note: Acknowledgement slip is the receipt you were given when you applied for Aadhaar Card.

Step 3: Click on “Check Status” button to see your Aadhar Card status.

Step 4: The next page will show your uidai.gov.in card status. If your card is generated, you can expect to receive it within a week or so.

Important Points

  • You can only track for Aadhaar Card status if you have the right Enrolment ID (EID).
  • EID is a 14-digit number available at the top of your acknowledgement slip.
  • The 14-digit date and time of enrollment is also given in your acknowledgement slip.

For this, you will either need your Aadhaar registered email id or phone number. Once you have that, enter your details on the page and click on “Send One Time Password” button. Now, enter OTP received on your phone number (Email ID) in the field and Verify. A valid verification will retrieve your Enrollment ID that you can use to check the status of your Aadhaar Card.

* If you have not registered your mobile number or Email ID with Aadhaar, you can visit any Enrollment center to get it registered now.

Track Aadhaar Card status by Phone Number and Name

There is no direct method to track Aadhaar status by phone number and/or name. But you can still check the status online if you only have a registered mobile number. Your registered number is the aadhar card status enquiry phone number for you. This is the only way you can check your Aadhaar card status by name.

Follow the steps below:

1. Visit the “Retrieve EID” link.

2. Now, enter your Name, registered Mobile number (Or Email address) and other details, and click on “Send One Time Password” button to receive OTP on your registered number.

3. Enter OTP in the field and verify your phone number. You will now receive your enrollment ID (EID) on your phone number.

4. Use your EID to check your Aadhar status online by following the first method.

How to Check Aadhaar Card Status Offline

If you have the enrollment ID or a registered phone number, you can also check your Aadhaar status offline. Follow the steps below:

Step 1: Visit your nearest permanent Aadhaar enrollment center.

Step 2: Ask them for the status of your Aadhaar Card application. They may ask you for the unique enrollment ID and/or your name and/or registered number. You can check the status by using these details.

Step 3: If you have lost the EID, you can retrieve it using your registered phone number. If you have lost them both, then you’ll have to fill in the form to update your Aadhaar Care phone number.

Step 4: The center supervisor will tell you if your Aadhaar Card is generated or not.

Check Aadhaar Card Update Status

If you have recently applied to get your Aadhaar card details changed, you can also track its status online or offline. Follow the process below to check Aadhaar update status online.

Click on “Check Update Status” link at UIDAI website homepage uidai.gov.in. On the next page, enter your Aadhaar Number and URN (Update Request Number) and click on “Get Status” button. You can see the current status of your Aadhaar update request here. Or you can directly follow this link.

Note: URN is the unique number given to you at the time of applying for Aadhaar update.
