Apply For Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) Online and Offline

Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) was started by the Indian government in 2016 with an aim of providing affordable housing to the individuals and families living in the Urban (Shehari) areas of the country. Those, who are eligible for PM Awas Yojana scheme, can apply online through the official website. There is also an alternative way where you can submit your PMAY registration form through a Common Service Center (CSC) in your city.

Before applying for PMAY, you must make sure that you are eligible for it. You can check the list of beneficiaries for your name in it. If your name is in the list, then you are eligible for this scheme. You must also have your Aadhaar card as it is mandatory for PMAY application.

How to Apply Online for Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban)

If you have a working internet connection, you can apply online for PMAY by following the steps mentioned below. Make sure to keep your Aadhaar card, bank account details, and your household income details with you.

Step 1: Visit the PMAY official website pmaymis.gov.in

Step 2: From the top menu bar, click on one of the first two options

  1. For slum dwellers: If you currently live in the slum area in a city
  2. Benefits under other 3 components: If you are not living in the slum area

Step 3: On the next page, enter your Aadhaar number and press the “Check” button to check your records. (You cannot apply for PMAY if you do not have an Aadhaar Card.)

Step 4: After verifying your Aadhaar details, you will be redirected to the application page, which looks like the image below.

Step 5: Fill in each and every column of the form with correct information. Make sure to write your correct monthly household income.

Step 6: Recheck the form for errors, click the checkbox that says “I am aware…,” enter the captcha and click the “Save” button.

Step 7: Upon successful submission of the application form, you will be given an application number on the screen. Make sure to note down this number or save this page.

You can use this application number to track status of PMAY application online.

You can also take a Print of PMAY application form by using your name or application number.

The same website also lets you change or update your PMAY online application. Visit the Edit PMAY application page. Enter your application number & Aadhaar number to edit your submitted application.

After you successfully submit your Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana application, the government will verify your details and consider you for this affordable housing scheme under one of the following four categories.

  1. Rehabilitation of existing slum dwellers
  2. Credit Linked Subsidy
  3. Affordable Housing in Partnership
  4. Subsidy for beneficiary-led individual house construction/enhancement

How to Apply Offline for Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban)

If you do not have access to a reliable working internet connection, you can also register for the PMAY scheme through a Common Service Center (CSC). Common Service Centers are special computer centers located in urban areas and affiliated to the central government. They allow you and even help you in applying for Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. This is a paid process which will cost you about Rs. 25.

Follow the steps below to apply for PMAY through a CSC.

Step 1: Locate your nearest CSC by visiting the page at http://gis.csc.gov.in/locator/csc.aspx

Select your state, district, block and village name and search for the nearest CS center.

Step 2: Visit the CSC with all required documents including your Aadhaar card, photo, etc.

Step 3: At the center, you will be asked to fill in an e-KYC form that looks like the image below.

Enter your Aadhaar number and correct monthly household income, etc.

Step 4: After the successful submission of the online form, the center will provide you an acknowledgement receipt with your PMAY application number. The application number can be used to track the status of your application online.

You can expect to receive a confirmation SMS after a few weeks or so, once the primary verification of your documents and application is completed and you are selected or rejected for the scheme.
